Comedy, Cabaret and Buble
Eternal optimist Lisa Woodbrook is heading to Margaret River for the next Homegrown@HEART outing, with a spectacular new one woman show that tastefully fuses comedy and cabaret.
Feeling Way Too Good: Songs of Michael Bublé, set for the Margaret River HEART Main Theatre on August 12, is a hilarious look at the twists and turns of everyday life.
Renowned for her powerhouse vocals, hilarious energy and larger-than-life stage presence, Lisa said the show is all about finding the silver livings of life’s ups and downs.
“Set to the soundtrack of Michael Bublé, audiences will enjoy all the Bublé classics as I share stories on when life gives you lemons. It might leave you feeling way too good…” Woodbrook explained.
Beyond her stage shows, Lisa is passionate about interacting with local communities and providing opportunities for emerging and established performers to develop their talent and creativity.
“Free comedy and singing workshops are happening the following day for those who purchased tickets to the show. The workshops will provide participants with an introduction to public speaking, storytelling, comedy and singing,” she said.
“I’ll be sharing some tips and tricks on how to engage with an audience, finding the best stories to tell, and of course, how to add humour. Everyone will be able to perform at the end of the workshop too.”
Supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSCI) Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program (RACIP) In the House grants program, the Homegrown@HEART Music Program has been designed to support local talent – providing employment, performance opportunity and skill development by getting locals on stage.
Homegrown support act Southern Sugar, featuring Margaret River based musos Nicky Lefebvre and Ian Smith, will kick things off from 7pm on the main stage.
Experienced in musical theatre and cabaret performances, the duo’s repertoire spans over 100 years of music covering everything from the latest hits to favourites from decades past.
To encourage participation and improve access to live performances, the Margaret River HEART is offering 20 free Homegrown tickets to community members living with disability. Residents wishing to access these tickets are encouraged to contact the Box Office to grab tickets in advance and discuss any access requirements for their visit.
