Call for Stitched and Bound 2022 art submissions

Western Australian residents with a passion for quilting are encouraged to submit a piece of work to be included in the Stitched and Bound 2022 juried exhibition of innovative contemporary art quilts.

Funded by Lotterywest and sponsored by the West Australian Quilters Association, the biennial exhibition will tour five galleries in regional WA including the Margaret River HEART from December 2.

Stitched and Bound Co-Convenor Susan Sheath said this year’s tour will showcase the creativity and innovative work currently produced by WA artists who challenge the usual concept of the ‘quilt’ medium.

“Artists are encouraged to work outside the quilt format and push the boundaries, focusing on making personal statements through the use of unconventional materials, ideas and techniques,” she said.

“We hope that artists in the Margaret River region will submit their works, as we would love to have some pieces from the area included in the exhibition.”

Previous Stitched and Bound exhibitions have included around 30 – 40 works chosen by three independent jurors. Pieces are selected on artistic merit, innovation within the quilt medium and standard of design and execution.

Entries for the Stitched and Bound 2022 exhibition are now open and creative community members are encouraged to make an online submission before entries close on April 30.
