Free ‘jam’ space at HEART

The outdoor ‘Soundshell’ at Margaret River HEART is available for community members seeking a place to jam and hone their craft.

In a response to encourage live performance and support venue activation despite continual WA border closures, the acoustic chamber located between the Shire’s Civic Administration Centre and the HEART’s main entrance, will be offered as a free rehearsal space for music, dance and other forms of informal performance.

HEART General Manager Nicky Hansen said Margaret River is renowned for its thriving arts and cultural community and it can often be difficult for artists to find suitable spaces to play and rehearse.

“We want to encourage creativity throughout the town, while bringing the precinct to life with free entertainment for the community. It’s the perfect spot for friends and family to perch up on the lawn with a rug and enjoy the wonderful up and coming talent right here on our doorstep,” she said.

“Budding musicians and performers get an opportunity to practise and develop their skills in a lovely space that has great sound.

“The Soundshell’s innovative reflective surface technology enhances the sound projection received in all areas, producing a high-quality experience for both musicians and audiences. We’ve got a piano we can wheel into the space too for those who want to have a tinkle.”

Margaret River HEART is also home to a baby grand piano and pianists looking for a place to execute their skills are encouraged to pop in to practise in the centre. Bookings are essential.

Creatives interested in using the Soundshell space or the baby grand piano can call or email the HEART team on 9780 5294 or [email protected] to check availability and schedule a free jam session.
