New concept for Australian classic
Heard of Albert Facey’s much loved story A Fortunate Life? If you’ve read the book and seen the movie, it’s now time for something completely different – watch it live in the Margaret River HEART Main Theatre with breath-taking audio-visual backdrops produced by Albany’s Green Man Media.
Western Australian theatre company THEATRE 180 and new entertainment platform CinemaStage are bringing their stylish and innovative adaptation of A Fortunate Life to Margaret River on Friday February 12.
Simply staged, the three actors who play a myriad of characters as they retell Albert Facey’s story, from his first memories through to old age. Behind them, on the big screen, there is a filmed background bringing layers to the biography, beautifully capturing the stories and landscapes of the Australian bush and harsh way of life in early-twentieth century Western Australia.
THEARTE 180’s Artistic Director Stuart Halusz said A Fortunate Life brings the work of an entirely Western Australian project to a potentially greater audience in Western Australia.
“Storytelling, through theatre and cinema is the best possible way to learn from our past, reflect on our present and imagine a better future.” he said.
Audience members are invited to join a 30-minute Q&A with Stuart Halusz and cast members Rebecca Davis, Benj D’addario and Michael Abercromby following the performance.
Margaret River HEART General Manager Nicky Hansen said the production has already received a positive response from the community with ticket sales soaring within hours of going live.
“It makes sense to bring this to the community, as it’s an opportunity to enjoy Australian history, arts and culture through a new type of experience. This is the perfect night out for the whole family,” she said.
A Fortunate Life tour has already enjoyed sell-out seasons in Midland, Albany, Busselton, Rockingham, Geraldton and Warwick and community members are encouraged to jump online via www.margaretriverheart.com.au to purchase tickets in advance and avoid missing out.
Alternatively, the HEART Box Office is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday to purchase tickets over the counter or by phone on (08) 9780 5294.
